Florence + The Machine - Remain Nameless + Spectrum
Monday, November 14, 2011 at 5:10PM Florence + The Machine returned on October 31 with their second studio album. Welch herself described the genre of Ceremonials as "chamber soul". The album is full of ground rattling ballads that boom from start to finish. When she was discussing where the sound of Ceremonials came from she stated that her previous album had songs that she wrote from back when she was younger, since then her sound had changed. Ceremonials is the sound that she struck towards the end of Lungs. That was the sound that became the DNA for this album.
I wasn't sure which songs I wanted to share with you all but after having two weeks to digest their album two of the most memorable songs for me have been "Remain Nameless" (from the deluxe version) and "Spectrum". They both talk about names and almost contradict each other in some ways about their meaning so initially I didn't want to use both but musically they're each incredibly sound. This album will be getting some heavy rotation in my library.
Stream the whole album on Spotify or purchase through iTunes.
