Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Same Mistake + Hysterical

Just six years ago, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah was the poster child for DIY indie rock bands (in other words, the band releases their album without the support of a major or independent label). The band's 2005 self-titled debut received so much hoopla and hoorah, but it didn't quite meet expectations. It's been a steady decline in critical and fan interest ever since.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah latest effort called Hysterical was released last month. I had no expectations for this album to be honest, but after several listens, I'm intrigued. Same Mistake and Hysterical are two tracks that have stood out the most so far. There's a sense of urgency and desperation in these songs that I really like. Lead singer Alec Ounsworth impressed me with his vocals as well, they stood out quite well without sounding too whiny or emo-y. Both of these tracks are fast-paced, catchy and pleasant to listen to.
